Diplomatic Conference

Diplomatic Conference

Overview: This first simulation model takes the form of a diplomatic conference between representatives of different delegations. In a joint effort, the participants negotiate the adoption of a fictitious international treaty on a pre-determined topic.

This model is immersive and experiential. It allows participants to take the lead in their own learning process!

Adaptable to several topics, the diplomatic conference is an active, experiential and learner-centered activity with several benefits. For example:

  • It offers a practical learning experience to students and provide them with a form of proactive involvement;
  • It creates educational material for the benefit of the educator, which could be used during classes following the activity;
  • It creates research material contributing to the advancement of knowledge in university teaching and learning;

Below is an introductory video to the Diplomatic Conference on climate change, a video presenting the activity and a video of two students sharing their experience after attending the Diplomatic Conference.
